14:00-15:20 | Whois: Privacy, Trust, and Public Interest Whois 隱私、信任與公眾利益 When the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on May 25 2018, major changes were needed to the existing WHOIS (a public lookup system that provides information on who owns which domain name). In response, the ICANN community is undergoing an Expedited Policy Development Process (EPDP) on the Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data to bring existing WHOIS obligations by registries and registrars in line with GDPR requirements. This session will look further into the impact and the current adoption progress as well as the discussion topics of the ICANN 64 meeting in Kobe. Issues such as balancing privacy with the need for access due to security or operational reasons will be discussed. |
